Scleral Lenses
Comfort, clarity and troubleshooting
Fit & Comfort
-
Sclerals vault over the cornea and rest on the white of the eye (sclera). They can provide stable optics and may help protect the cornea for some patients.
-
Many people find them comfortable early, but comfort varies. Fit, dryness, and handling technique all matter.
Fogging, debris, bubbles
-
A build-up of fine particles in the fluid reservoir that can blur vision. It may relate to tear film, lens alignment, or solution choices.
-
Common strategies include optimising the edge alignment, reviewing insertion technique to avoid bubbles, and refining solution choices (we’ll advise what’s appropriate for your eyes).
-
Often insertion angle/technique or lens alignment. Even small bubbles can affect comfort and vision.
Wear time & Safety
-
This is individual. We’ll recommend wear time based on your cornea’s response, lens material, and fit.
-
Usually we advise caution; ask us what’s appropriate for your situation.
Handling
-
Many patients use plungers for insertion/removal. We’ll teach you what’s safest and easiest.
